To ensure good governance the SAMED committees are governed by the following SOP’S and Competition law compliance guidelines.

Current committees and their key objectives include:

1. SALDA/SAMED Africa Forum
The Africa forum keeps SAMED members abreast of Medical Device and IVD regulatory requirements of different countries on the continent.

2. Code Committee
This committee aims to ensure that SAMED members are aware of and embrace the Medical Device Code of Ethical Business and Marketing Practice.  

3. Government Procurement Committee
This Committee aims to partner with Government, to overcome shortcomings of supply chain management (tender) system. Report contraventions, assist with outstanding payments.

4. Health Economics and Reimbursement Committee
This committee focuses on influencing the reimbursement and Health Technology Assessment (HTA) of Medical Devices and technologies in both the private and public sectors. Deliberations regarding NHI also falls within this committee’s mandate.

5. Orthopaedic Suppliers Committee
This committee is specifically involved in Elective Orthopaedics, Trauma and Spine, working closely with the Orthopaedic association SAOA. The Committee has ongoing engagement with the South African Orthopaedic Association (SAOA) re: congresses, venues, fair market value, fellowships.

6. Regulatory Committee
This committee aims to foster the creation of an effective harmonised legislative environment for the Medical Devices industry. The committee hosts regular Regulatory forums for members assisting them in the licencing process and implementation of regulations.

7. Small Business Forum
This Forum aims to assist the development and growth of small businesses in the Medical Device industry.
