Nikki will then guide an engaging panel discussion on: \n  \n“Breaking Bias: Disrupting the Status Quo in Leadership and Business” \n  \nThis session will unpack the invisible barriers women face and how we can collectively challenge outdated norms\, amplify new voices\, and redesign the future of medtech leadership. \n  \nWhy does diversity in medtech matter? \n  \nDiversity isn’t just a moral imperative; it’s a business one. Greater representation of women leads to stronger governance\, better decision-making\, and improved health outcomes. However\, retaining women in the workforce\, especially in leadership roles\, remains a global challenge. \n  \nAccording to McKinsey & Company’s Women in the Workplace 2025 report\, while hiring women into entry-level roles is improving\, attrition is rising across the leadership pipeline. Many women are stepping away due to slow progress in inclusive leadership\, burnout\, and unbalanced caregiving burdens\, trends that echo in our own context here in South Africa. \n  \nSAMED is addressing this head-on through our Women Empowerment Index\, which currently reflects data from 29 participating companies. We will share key findings from the Index during the forum\, offering a clearer picture of the patterns\, progress\, and persistent gaps in our sector. \n  \nWho should attend? \nWomen and men in medtech\, at every level\, who are building more equitable and empowering workplaces.
