NHI Forum
November 20 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
You are invited to attend the upcoming SAMED NHI Forum.
As you are aware, the National Health Insurance (NHI) Act was signed into law on 15 May 2024, setting in motion one of the most significant policy shifts in South Africa’s healthcare landscape. With the implementation process now underway, it is essential for medical technology stakeholders to stay informed and engaged.
We are pleased to host an update from:
Prof Nicholas Crisp: Deputy Director-General: National Health Insurance, National Department of Health
Prof Crisp will provide an overview of what has transpired since the Act was signed, outline the Department’s next steps, and discuss the implications for the private sector — including procurement, reimbursement mechanisms, and the integration of medtech in the NHI framework.
Why you should attend
This forum offers an opportunity to:
- Understand current NHI implementation milestones and timelines
- Gain insight into policy developments affecting market access, funding, and regulatory pathways
- Engage with key decision-makers and raise critical questions relevant to the medtech sector
- Align your organisation’s strategy with national healthcare reform efforts
Who should attend:
- Senior executives and strategic decision-makers
- Regulatory and market access professionals
- Public affairs and policy teams
- Commercial and procurement teams
- SAMED members seeking clarity on future health financing and reimbursement models
In preparation, we encourage members to review SAMED’s Position Paper on NHI, available here: https://samed.org.za/what-we-do/national-health-insurance/
This session will be particularly relevant for those who are actively planning for the transition to a more unified national health system and wish to understand how the medtech sector will be engaged.
