The first Board meeting following the SAMED Annual General Meeting took place on 30 June 2022. At this meeting, the Board elected the new Chair and Vice-chair of SAMED from among them.
We are pleased to announce that the SAMED Chair for 2022/23 is Peter Mehlape, Managing Director: Southern Africa for Medtronic. Serving for a second term, Avanthi Govender Bester, Associate Director: Regulatory Affairs & Quality at Alcon Laboratories, was elected as Vice-chair. Last year, Reiner Gabler, Managing Director of Gabler Medical, was nominated to the SAMED Board to serve as Treasurer until the end of May 2023 and as such retains this position.
We wish to thank Marlon Burgess, the immediate past Chairperson, for his leadership and service. We are grateful for his dedication to SAMED and the medical technology sector and look forward to his continued contribution as a member of the Board. We also wish our elected office bearers great success in their roles and look forward to what they will bring to the association.
