The UIF online portal is now open to accept claims for iteration 1 (16.10.2020 to 31.12.2020). Only claims for affected sectors will be accepted. UIF will communicate on the opening of the other claim codes and iteration 2.
SAMED’s submission recommends that the medtech sector be added to the list of affected sectors that have suffered as a direct result of COVID-19 restrictions and that it be considered for COVID-19 TERS extension. In arguing our case, we referred to cancellations and postponements of elective procedures, tests and surgery using medical technologies and periods when company reps had no access to facilities due to hospitals’ stringent entry criteria. All these had a detrimental effect on the turnover, growth, sustainability and productivity of the sector.
Unfortunately, we have not been added to the list. Once known, we will advise members of the UIF process through which individual entities can motivate their inclusion due to the direct impact of regulations on their operations.
