SAMED has made a submission on Circular 57 of 2020 regarding the performance of health technology assessments (HTA) by managed care organisations (MCOs).
Members are directly impacted by HTA and as such we have engaged with MCOs over many years in an effort to establish an HTA capability for SA, which has been lacking in both the public and private healthcare sectors.
SAMED believes that an HTA capability should benefit both the public and private sectors and that MCOs and funders should not be permitted to perform and/or charge for HTA. SAMED continues to advocate for an independent agency performing HTA with a transparent process.
