The Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) has commenced. SAMED has provided the requirements, reminders and updates on POPIA through ongoing communication with members.
In a bid to aid members in understanding the requirements for implementing and ensuring compliance to POPIA, SAMED held forums with Esme Prins van den Berg (Healthcare Navigator) in April and Pat Matseke (Elsabe Klinck and Associates) in July to provide an overview of the POPIA and address member queries. The presentations can be accessed via the SAMED library. SAMED has also developed a POPIA FAQ which members may find useful.
