If I want to bring in a Class A device (which currently is exempted from licensing) then I only need to provide an updated product list to the current license (which has been approved for Class B/C/D) that is in place?

When you add a new class of device to your existing medical device establishment license, (regardless whether it is class A or any other) you must apply for an amendment and not a notification with updated product listing. If you already have class A products and are merely adding additional products from the same class, then a notification will suffice.
