Michelle began her career as an electrical engineer in the Electricity industry. Following her work in the substation automation space, commissioning of high voltage feeder schemes, substation control as well as telecommunications system commissioning, Michelle moved towards securing smart grid applications from a cyber perspective. Registered as a professional engineer with Engineering council of South Africa (ECSA), Michelle has applied her engineering experience to securing Industrial control systems such as Electricity Distribution management systems including SCADA and telecommunications infrastructure. She has developed and led cyber risk assessments as per ISO 31000 methodology, developed cybersecurity strategy and roadmaps as well as facilitated OT cybersecurity training to engineers, technicians and OT system managers.
