Are local manufacturers of masks required to comply to the standards set out by NRCS?

Whether a mask is imported or locally produced, it is subject to the same standards set out by NRCS. Each medical device type will have standards specific to it. Non-sterile, non-measuring masks will have certain standards, sterile surgical masks will have another, N95 masks another, etc. It is essential for both local manufacturers and importers to ensure that the product meets the specifications. The NRCS may require sample product for testing.

Masks, such as fabric masks, which are not being supplied into medical setting are not subject to these standards – however, there are often guidelines to ensure quality of product which should be adhered to.
